Is Mathematics More Art than Science? A fascinating look at both sides of this question from two brilliant minds. About Dr. Keith Devlin Dr. Keith Devlin is a co-founder and Executive Director of the university's H-STAR institute and a World Economic Forum Fellow and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His current research is focused on the use of different media to teach and communicate mathematics to diverse audiences. He also works on the design of information/reasoning systems for intelligence analysis. Other research interests include: theory of information, models of reasoning, applications of mathematical techniques in the study of communication, and mathematical cognition. He has written 31 books, including the recently published The Man of Numbers: Fibonacci's Arithmetic Revolution and over 80 published research articles. Recipient of the Pythagoras Prize, the Peano Prize, the Carl Sagan Award, and the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics Communications Award. He is "The Math Guy" on National Public Radio. About Professor Alejandro Garcia Computer animation in feature films is a modern-day nexus of art and science. Professor Alejandro Garcia developed and teaches "Physics of Animation," a science course for visual artists. During 2011, he took a professional leave and worked in Dreamworks Animation's Department of Artistic Development as a physics consultant on "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted." About Angie Coiro Angie Coiro is an award-winning journalist and interviewer. Her work has aired nationally on "Mother Jones Radio," on Air America, and on public radio. Locally she's known for her hosting work on Live From the Left Coast/The Angie Coiro Show; KQED's Friday Forum; KGO radio; and for many years of news and traffic reporting around the dial. She has a parallel career as a voiceover talent, with a long and varied resume. Angie is represented by JETalent in San Francisco.
