Over the past two decades, research has revealed a lot about the foods and nutrients that contribute to brain health and protect against dementia. This presentation highlights this literature and identifies the nutrients and dietary components that are unhealthy for the aging brain and outlines a diet that may be protective against the development of dementia.Martha Clare Morris is a professor of epidemiology and director of the Section of Internal Medicine and assistant provost of community research at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Her research focuses on community populations, their diets and eating behaviors and how their dietary practices relate to changes in their cognitive abilities over time.
