In this video, I (Dr. Mike Christiansen from Utah State University) will begin my Semester 1 Undergraduate Organic Chemistry course. In this lecture I'll teach you about what organic chemistry is and why it's important. I'll also review how to distinguish between ionic and covalent bonds, how to explain electronegativity, how to identify nonpolar and polar covalent bonds, and how to draw' Lewis structures, Kekulé structures, and condensed structures. I further mention how organic chemistry is a little like playing with Legos.
