http://www.stevethehurricane.com Everything needed to grow your Home Care or Hospice Company Good day, everyone! I hope you’re out and about drumming up business and helping people age safely in place. That’s what it’s all about! While doing so, you’re probably running into social workers along the way. Many of us have a difficult time getting social workers to refer because they are so challenging to meet. Little do we realize, they make it challenging to meet them because they are completely overwhelmed by the countless number of vendors knocking on their door for referrals. In this episode, I discuss Pet Peeves of Social Workers…and at the Hurricane Marketing Boot Camp in Feb of 2015, I will teach you how to get around them and score the referrals we are after. As part of that training, I will show a video featuring an interview with real social workers, talking about how they like to be treated. They discuss many pet peeves they have with vendors…such as the timing of drop by visits, to how sneaky we can be, and even going over their heads. They are NOT a fan of those things and the interviews are a real eye opener. The one thing that really stood out though, was how they feel that no one listens to or respects them. They were very passionate about this and it shocked me, as I always treated my social workers with the utmost respect! Many of us do not realize that Social Workers are the most over worked, underpaid, SKILLED position in all of healthcare! (I say Skilled because many of these folks have master’s degrees and require a license that they have to maintain, the same way a nurse or doctors must.) Yes…we have a task to complete (get the referral), but we must never forget to treat our social workers with respect and listen to them. Active Listening is an essential part of my training program. When a social worker talks to me, I always hear what she says, think before I respond, and come up with a solution that works for both parties. Many of us have bumped into a social worker while she’s running into a meeting or something. She says, “I have your information, I work with several other agencies, I don’t have time to meet with you now.” How should you respond? Answer: There really isn’t a way to respond to this. You shouldn’t be meeting your social worker in passing in the first place!!!! This is why I train people to make contact with an account with other professionals with in the account first and then get a meeting with the social worker through that contact!!!! This way you are able to have your meeting with her, during a scheduled session, but you’re not bothering her trying to establish a relationship. I can go on and on about all the details of how to do this, but the BEST thing you can do for getting referrals from Social Workers is register for the Home Care Sales and Marketing Event of the Year, the Hurricane Marketing Boot Camp 2.0. This training is so valuable, I will only be doing it there! You can’t afford to miss out on this. Here’s where you can get the details now. As I always say, I’m committed to helping you BLOW AWAY THE COMPETITION!!! See you in February ☺
