Politics in Spires (http://politicsinspires.org/), is an innovative cross-institutional blog between the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford and the Department of Politics and International Studies, University of Cambridge.
The blog was created with the intent to share across the institutions and with a wider community thoughts on politics and international relations, disseminate research, engage in scholarly debate on current affairs, and address topical issues in a timely fashion.
The blog is the brainchild of student Oliver Lewis and was further developed through the JISC-funded Triton Project at Oxford University Computing Services. It uses the WordPress publishing platform and alongside the blog sit thematically sorted collections of subject specific Open Educational Resources (OER) harvested from the web. Community tools to highlight relevance and aid selection are also available.
Both scholars and students contribute to Politics in Spires which encourages free expression and invites critical exchange of ideas in an informal environment. The blog is openly accessibly to anyone and all posts on the blog are available under an open Creative Commons Licence which allows reuse.
