On July 21, 2008 Magnus appeared on the KDFW FOX 4 Good Day program. He played Scriabin's Prelude in A Minor (Op. 11, No. 2).

13 year-old Magnus LaDue is an advanced student of mathematics, music, computer science, English, and Latin. He has studied a number of subjects at the college level since the age of 6, and he is currently studying mathematics, computer science, and music theory at the graduate level. Magnus is also working on an Intel Science Talent Search project with a faculty member at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and he is preparing a collection of jazz piano transcriptions for publication.
On May 7, 2008 Magnus (then only 8 years old) took the Calculus BC Advanced Placement Exam offered by the College Entrance Examination Board. He is the youngest student ever to have taken an Advanced Placement Exam. On July 14, 2008 we learned that he made the highest possible score of 5. On May 10, 2010 Magnus (then only 10 years old) took the Advanced Placement Exam in Music Theory, and he made the highest possible score of 5 once again. He took the Advanced Placement Exam in Computer Science on May 3, 2011, and he scored another 5. The College Board has recognized his achievement with an AP Scholar Award.
In December of 2008 Magnus discovered an error in one of the Laplace transforms in the CRC Standard Mathematical Tables and Formulae (31st Edition). The incorrect result, which he noticed after a lengthy calculation by hand, appears in formula 36 on p. 607, and this error was previously undiscovered. Magnus proposed two possible corrections to Dan Zwillinger, editor of the CRC Tables. In July of 2009 Magnus's correction was accepted, and it will appear in future editions of the book.
In May of 2009 Magnus discovered an error in one of the Fourier series in the CRC Standard Mathematical Tables and Formulae (31st Edition). The incorrect result, which he also discovered with a paper and pencil calculation, appears in formula 1.4.4(k) on p. 52, and Magnus submitted a correction to Dan Zwillinger. In December of 2010 Magnus's correction was accepted, and it will appear in future editions of this venerable reference.
Magnus was the winner of a gold medal in the 2009 AADGT International Young Musician Competition. He performed Chopin's Etude in G# Minor (Op. 25, No. 6) in the winners' recital at Merkin Concert Hall in New York City on May 24, 2009.
In addition to his musical and academic interests, Magnus enjoys bicycling 60 to 75 miles each week on trails in the greater DFW area. As a volunteer for Keep Grapevine Beautiful, he cleans 1.8 miles of his adopted bicycle trail every week. Magnus also loves taking care of his three cats, Garfield, Gigi, and Macavity.
