Submitted by University of the Philippines Manila College of Allied Medical Professions Year 4 PT Students AY 2013-2014 [Diaz, Hernandez, Lucero, Roxas, Tiu] Case 7: You are a physical therapist working at a private out-patient clinic. An 18 year old college student from an exclusive private who sustained a TBI ~5 weeks ago has been referred to you for PT management. Your client has just been discharged a few days ago and is currently in a wheelchair propelled by his caregiver. Your client was part of his school's Tae Kwon Do varsity team prior to the accident and has been feeling depressed since the incident. At present, the client is only able to maintain standing without support. Your client also presents with Grade 1+ spasticity on his (L) plantarflexors. Your client's caregiver reports that the wheelchair is very bulky and is difficult to navigate within their home. Your client's dependence has increased caregiver burden and has also added to the client's depression. Using any ONE neurofacilitation approach, teach your client how to walk on level surfaces independently.
