Students spending part of their summer in the Chandler lab of the Center of Applied NanoBioscience and Medicine at the UA College of Medicine – Phoenix took a brief break from their work recently. They participated in a show of solidarity with other people around the world who are following the exciting and historic journey of the Solar Impulse airplane. Inspired by a viral video on the Solar Impulse YouTube channel (, the students made paper airplanes, recorded the experience and are forwarding the videos to their friends through social networks using the hashtag #futureisclean. Solar Impulse is attempting to be the first round-the-world solar flight. The plane and crew have been grounded by weather in Japan but are scheduled to make a stop in Phoenix on their trip.
