After spending the best part of a decade high on hallucinogenic substances, Mike Joyce & Chris Harris emerged from the 70's mentally disturbed and on the verge of what could have possibly been the most neurological chemically unbalanced comedown that any human brain has had the misfortune to endure. It was during this distorted period of their lives at the turn of the 80's that from the warped imagination of one or both of these unhinged individuals was produced: "Madame Gustos Travelling Circus!"
Madame Gusto's Travelling Circus for many years was thought only to have existed in a select minority of a few children - now fully grown adults memories, who were raised by the television in the 80's... a figment of imagination best left buried for fear of reinvoking nightmares or surreal flashbacks.
What can only be described as a cross between Crystal Tipps & Alistair meets Pzycho The Magician genuinely still creeps me out. It unsettled me as a child & is still as strange, weird & bizarre as i vividly remembered.
Madame Gusto is a creepy witch-gypsy-fortune teller-escapee from a Monty Python animation who runs a circus that consists of 2 clowns, a horse, an elephant and a 3-legged monkey. (a screeching monkey waving its 'third leg' around has no place on childrens tv in my opinion)
Badly animated, erratically moving freaky characters making barely understandable noises & mumblings take us on a journey into a dark part of our psyche daren't usually explored.
