Phrasal verb: "eat out"
If you "eat out" it means you go outside your house to eat, for example to a bar or restaurant.
"Do you want to eat out?"
"When we have something to celebrate, we normally eat out."
Prepositions: at / in
You can be "at the restaurant" or "in the restaurant".
"Let's meet at / in the restaurant."
Eating out in the UK
If you want to try British food, you should try a pub. We have every type of restaurant in the UK -- except for British ones!
Book a table / make a reservation
Make a phone call or go into the restaurant before the meal
"I'd like to book a table for six, for eight o'clock on Friday night, please."
"Certainly, what name?"
"Chris."
"We'll see you then."
Arriving at the restaurant
"Table for four, please."
If you made a reservation:
"Table for Chris, please."
Or:
"I've made a reservation, name's Chris."
Sitting down
"What would you like to drink?"
"Would you like to see the wine list?"
Waiter / waitress
Drinks
Red wine
White wine
House wine (house red / house white)
Soft drinks: coke; lemonade; fruit juice
Water (you normally have to ask them to bring water -- it's free)
"Are you ready to order?"

Expressions for ordering
"What are the specials?"
"I'll have a starter, please."
"I'll have..."
"I'll just have a main."
"What's in the..." (Ask what ingredients are in a dish.)
"To start, I'll have the...
"For the main, I'll have the..."

Other questions
"Would you like to see the dessert menu?"
"Would you like any dessert?"
"Any tea or coffee?"
Paying
"Can we have the bill, please?"
"Tip" -- extra money for the waiter / waitress
Look to see if it says "service included" or "service not included"
