Hello and welcome to this introduction to the revision summer school of GCSE and A-Level at Miki IELTs academy in Gangnam. For the past few years we've run a programme involving GCSE and A-Level English, maths and science and this year's no different - we're running the programme again this year.
I'm Andrew; I'm a graduate of Oxford University and I'm in charge of teaching English - both English Literature and English language. It doesn't matter what exam board you are studying at your school, whether it's Edexcel or AQA or OCR - whatever it is we cover the skills that you need at this school.
GCSE is the exam that you sit when you are sixteen or sometimes fifteen in England, and in order to study A-Levels (which you sit when you're eighteen and which enable you to enter university in the UK) you must study GCSEs first. So if you want to study in the UK, these are 'must-have' qualifications.
As part of the programme here at Miki Globe, we'll be covering a variety of skills that will help you get top marks at English GCSE. For example we'll be covering different ways that you can interpret texts - either newspaper articles or novels or extracts of poetry. I'll be teaching you phrases and terms and concepts that will help you to understand the texts and that will help you to score those top marks. We'll also be covering presentation skills that you can use in class when you are studying abroad, and again I'll be giving you academic phrases and words and ways of structuring your presentation to make sure that your presentations are really effective.
On 19th June we'll be hosting a seminar, so if you have any questions about English GCSE or about English A-Level or about studying in England in general, make sure to come along to that seminar and ask any questions that you might have.
