Supersymmetry teacher: Fernando quevedo website: (http://www.cam.ac.uk) In particle physics, supersymmetry is a symmetry that might relate hypothetical properties of bosons and fermions. Supersymmetry is also known by the acronym SUSY. According to the standard model (SM, its acronym in English) of particle physics, matter consists of fermions (in turn divided into quarks and leptons) and bosons which are the fundamental particles that transmit interactions nature (electromagnetic force, strong nuclear force and weak nuclear force). Supersymmetry extends the number of SM particles so that each particle has a corresponding supersymmetric partner called super-partner. Thus, each boson has a super companion fermion and vice versa. The super-partners of bosons and fermions are given names that start with the letter s; thus, the electron has the selectron as super companion and quarks, squarks. The super-partners of bosons are fermions with names ending in ino and the photon is the photino and the graviton (if gravity model is included), the gravitino. The minimal extension of the standard model including supersymmetry known as MSSM (English: Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model).
