This video reviews Cognitive Academic Language—the English that should be taught, learned, and acquired in every K-12, English Language Institute, and university classroom. It explains what is difficult in reading for English Language Learners and provides suggestions for what you can do to address those needs in your classroom. This video is the second in a series about teaching Language Arts to ELLs; video 1 is an introduction, video 3 covers teaching writing skills, and video 4 covers teaching speaking and listening skills.
