At Yale Law School's moot court finals on December 10, 2007, Enrique Schaerer argued on behalf of the petitioner in Medellín v. Texas. He did so before Judges Jerry Smith, Michael McConnell, and Reena Raggi. Enrique was assigned a difficult position -- one he disagreed with -- to argue for a "sweeping view" of presidential power. Not surprisingly, the judges on the panel peppered him with tough questions. They later awarded him and his teammate, Michael Krouse, the Potter Stewart Prize for best written brief and oral argument.
