About the speaker:
Professor Saskia Sassen is Lynd Professor of Sociology and Member of the Committee on Global Thought at Columbia University in New York, as well as Centennial Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics. She is the author of several landmark books on globalisation including Teh Global City: New York, London, Tokyo (second edition 2001) and Cities in a World Economy (third edition 2003). A second edition of her award-winning book Territory, Authority, Rights: From Medieval to Global Assemblages came out in 2008.
