2003 Nobel Prize laureate in economics, Robert F. Engle, was a keynote speaker at the 30th International Conference of the French Finance Association (AFFI) held on the EMLYON Business School campus from May 28 to 31, 2013. The conference was attended by some 300 researchers from all corners of the globe. The New York University Professor made a speech on the subject of "Global financial stability and systemic risk today". The Nobel Prize was awarded for the work he carried out on improving the reliability of economic forecasting. During his speech, he gave an insight into the situation of the US banks just before the subprime crisis as well as the way in which the Federal government handled the crisis. He also touched on the issue of the sovereign debt crisis which has been a source of tension in the Eurozone for virtually the past three years now.

Le prix Nobel de l'économie 2003, Robert F. Engle, était l'invité exceptionnel de la 30e édition du colloque de l'Association française de finance (AFFI), qui a réuni près de 300 chercheurs du monde entier sur le campus d'EMLYON Business School du 28 au 31 mai 2013. Professeur à la New York University, Robert F.Engle est intervenu sur le thème « Global financial stability and systemic risk today ». Il doit son prix Nobel à ses travaux ayant permis d'améliorer la fiabilité des prévisions économiques. Au cours de la conférence, il est revenu en détails sur la situation des banques américaines à la veille de la crise des subprimes et sur la gestion par le gouvernement fédéral de cette même crise. Il a également abordé la question de la crise de la dette souveraine qui fait planer un climat de tensions sur l'Eurozone depuis bientôt trois ans.
