Gareth Roberts presents this fourth out of five lectures for children at London's Royal Institution. First shown on BBC 2 in December 1988
The series was entitled - 'The Home of the Future' and in this episode, Gareth takes us through the history of audio recording equipment from Edison's first recording of 'Mary Had A Little Lamb' with the phonograph, through various record formats, to the operation of CD Players.
He then introduces the history of Television from Baird's Televisor to the introduction of the 5:3 format 'Wide Screen TV' - even trying to explain the concept of the UK PAL TV system.
Rather Quaint!
