Some students prefer to attend a small university. Others prefer to attend a big university. Discuss the advantages of each. Then indicate which type of university you prefer? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
Students have to get their bachelors or masters in variety of colleges or universities which help them to pursue their career. Choosing a big university or a small university is their choices. Let me take a look about advantages of a big and a small university and that would help me to make a decision.
Small university has small sized classes which mean small number of students in one class. This makes more focus on students in the class. For example, I attended my Bachelors in a very small university where they had only small number of students. The professors and all other university staffs knew everybody. Moreover, professors knew who the best and worst student of the class. In fact, they gave special coaching for the students who had troubled in learning difficult subjects. Eventually, all my classmates got high score in finals. In a small university professors are taking classes directly rather than teaching assistants. In addition, student advisors know all the students in a university which help them to choose their major or a job.
Large university has large sized classes which have a lot of students in one class. Students get more interaction because many student s in one class. Large university has many teaching assistants who help professors if they are not available. For example, one of my friend s did his bachelors in a named big university. He said most of the time teacher's assistants were taking classes. Big university is conducting lots of seminars and programs which make professors busy and could not focus on their students. Despite professors busy in participating seminars, new programs and seminars help students to improve their career.
Based on above discussed advantages of a small and a large university, I believe a small university has some more advantages like strong sense of community, individually designed majors, and get to know professors well. Moreover, lots of learning opportunities and strong advisory committee, which is helping students to choose their career regarding their ability. These are the reasons overweigh advantages of a small university is better than a large university.
