In Nossal High School on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia, students help interview new teachers before they are hired. A student selection panel assesses the potential teacher candidates and the decision is made collaboratively: when a concensus is reached, the principle then hires the successful candidate.
The pupils of the interview panel go through a training programme to make sure they assess teachers in a professional, confidential and fair way. The school principal sees it as a way to empower his students and to provide them with a different and important perspective on who will educate them. But not everyone agrees with this new approach of student empowerment. Watch to find out more!
