The Senate State and Local Government Committee advanced SF 2027, a bill regulating the use of e-cigarettes. Moderator Julie Bartkey discusses the legislation with Sen. Kathy Sheran, DFL-Mankato, who seeks to place e-cigarettes in the same category as tobacco and ban their use in public spaces. Sen. Sean Nienow, R-Cambridge, offers a different perspective on regulating e-cigarettes. Legislation commonly known as the "puppy and kitty bill" is making progress after six years of initially being introduced. Sen. John Marty, DFL-Roseville, discusses his proposal, which would license and regulate large operations of dog and cat breeders. Also in this week's program, a bill that extends health benefits to corrections employees hurt in the line of duty is detailed by one of its authors, Sen. Karin Housley, R-St. Mary's Point. Finally, Bikers Day at the Capitol brought more than 200 motorcycle enthusiasts to the rotunda in order to raise awareness on issues related to motorcycle safety.
