University admissions tutors reveal what they do and don't want to see in your personal statement...http://whi.ch/RXt7hm
More dos and don'ts
Do:
Use a strong opening sentence, making it clear why you want to study a particular course right from the start.
Structure your statement into paragraphs.
Use examples to highlight any skills or strengths you claim to have.
Keep it focused. Make sure every part of the personal statement should be answering the question, 'why should we give you a place on the course?'.
Use your own voice - tutors want your personality to shine through!
Don't:
Overdo the editing.
Use cliches. Rather than saying you're 'passionate', demonstrate your passion through things you've done or read.
Neglect spelling and grammar. Having another pair of eyes to proof read it should help!
