The Montana NSF EPSCoR Accelerated Math Program is a six-week intensive math preparation course for Native American high school students that prepares them for college-level calculus. This video shows the program at Little Big Horn College during the summer of 2012 with interviews of the students and their experience. Students at Stone Child College also participated.
Students attended class all day for six weeks and used iPads and other innovative teaching technology to increase their math skills. All students except one gained at least one level on the College Math Entrance Exam (COMPASS), which is used for math placement at a number of colleges. One student gained four levels. The average increase was 1.5 levels.
