Traveling safety is one the primary concerns when traveling in the Philippines or any country But if you know what you are doing and know how to avoid potentially dangerous situations, you should be fine; you don’t need to take safety orientations. The first part of traveling safely is to not look like you have valuable things inside your bags.
Travel casually and have safety awareness like you’re off to work or to the mall, don’t look too giddy whenever you see something you are interested in. If you are being too giddy or just plain noisy with your excitement and there are muggers or thieves nearby, you can bet they’ll take notice and start following you.

When it comes to Philippines travel safety, you have to know that it's a country of opportunity. If you leave your things unattended, if you're inattentive yourself, if you're sitting with your bag beside you, behind you or on the floor, it becomes an easy target.
If you're walking along with your cellphone in your hand, not aware of your surroundings it becomes an an easy target for somebody to snatch.
You want to be not so much security conscious as aware of your surroundings and aware of where you are in the world.
The Philippines is a third world country and the reason for that is that there's no fourth world. There are no big problems here but please be aware.
So is it safe to travel to the Philippines? Absolutely. Just be on your guard.
