Conversation on the street with Michele

This video is part of an ongoing series of occasional informal, impromptu conversations/interviews with various people that I happen to run across on the streets, mostly in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. Michele, originally from southern California, talks about how she came to be in San Francisco after getting out of prison, how/why she became hooked on heroin (she's off it for now), the 10 really good/best years she had, the 12 years when she was homeless, and how she is doing well now. I don't pretend to have any solution for, or special insight into, the world's problems, such as homelessness or drug use. Nor do I claim to be a great interviewer (or interview editor). I'm just interested in hearing people's stories, whoever they may be and whatever their situation may be. Perhaps you'll find these conversations interesting as well, and perhaps they will put some names and stories to some of the faces you may see on the street. Any opinions expressed by the person(s) interviewed are theirs alone and do not necessarily represent my opinions. I'm not an "investigative journalist" and do not attempt to verify the veracity of anything said during the conversations. Michele granted permission for this interview to be published online. As is the case with most of my on-the-street interviews, Michele was paid a small fee for appearing. The conversation was edited, mostly for time.
