INTERVIEW WITH LORD RICHARD ROGERS - PART1/2: http://www.creative-mapping.com/lord-richard-rogers-architect-rogers-stirk-harbour-partners/ This interview was conducted in 2010. What would the design of the universe look like if Lord Richard Rogers were playing God? High-tech, modern and spiked with a strong sense of ethical responsibility. He may not be the creator of the universe but Richard Rogers is certainly a God in the architectural world. Creative Mapping caught up with the living legend in his London home. Even if you haven't heard of Richard Rogers before, you most certainly have heard about or passed through one of his epic creations including the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the Millennium Dome, Lloyds buildings, the European Court of Human Rights, the Madrid-Barajas Airport, the Senedd, and Heathrow's Terminal 5. To top it off, Rogers has quite a public feud going with Prince Charles, which is nothing short of a clash between a classical and a modern vision of how our world should look. More than an architectural genius, Rogers is also a Creative Entrepreneur as founder of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (the very firm for which Mapper Mike Fairbrass has worked). Winner of numerous awards including the Royal Gold Medal for Architecture, the Pritzker Prize, the Thomas Jefferson Medal, and the Stirling Prize, Rogers holds a special place in the architecture world. His repeated success in creating iconic buildings that have helped shape both culture and visual landscape within the realms of art, travel, politics across the globe is what makes him a legend.
