Hi, my name is Karel. It's great to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and why I like teaching so much.
I am Irish, but grew up in London. I have been teaching English for more than 18 years. I was trained by Cambridge University in England.
I love teaching English because my main passion in life is traveling and meeting people like you from all over the world. I have always found different cultures very interesting. I think we all have a lot to learn from each other.
I started teaching in the Middle East many years ago and after spending 3 years there, continued onto Asia before returning to Europe where I worked for a great school in the UK teaching every possible nationality. I have now been teaching in Latin America for over 6 years.
I enjoy helping my students reach their personal goals. I think it is really important that we enjoy our lessons together because if you are having fun, you learn more and will remember the information you're studying. Language classes should be interesting and should motivate you to learn and want to study more. I like it when my students and I can laugh together, and I want my students to feel relaxed with me and be able to ask me questions.
I teach using a variety of materials, and focus on all areas of language learning, like vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and of course the four main skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. I think it is important to not only study the grammar and the necessary vocabulary, but to make sure that you can use both of these when you speak. I think the best way to help you do this is through language learning games and activities which copy real life situations. These help you to remember the language, and also to feel confident using the language.
