This week Amy shares her favorite apps to help you boost your digital marketing presence.
The first is OverNear. This app is still in its pretty early stages and is not yet very widely used, but there are definitely some thought leaders in the industry using it, like Gary Vaynerchuk and Lewis Howes. Don't dismiss OverNear as just another location-based social network. This is one of the first that actually allows you to easily update your following as to where you're going to be in the future.
There are two types of profiles on the app: a personal and a public. The personal one is similar to a Foursquare profile in that only approved friends can see your updates. But on the public profile, you can update locations separately and any person interested in you and your brand can follow your public updates.
The public profile is great for marketing your networking events, special occasions, and speaking engagements, while the personal profile is fun for those intimate meet-ups with closer acquaintances. Users will get a push notification if you update your profile with dates and locations near to their area, so they can plan on meeting you at your event.
Another great app is Followers +. There are plenty of ways to measure your Instagram presence (as a matter of fact we made a video about it), but this one is perfect for on-the-go access to what's happening on the photo-sharing network.
Followers + is free and allows you to look at some basic statistics including new followers and followers lost. There are also many in-app purchases available to upgrade your account and see more in-depth information.
The available to purchase Engagement Pack is a great upgrade for just $0.99. It tells you the engagement level of your followers. Knowing who your most active followers are is great information to have because there may be a way you can reward them and thus build them in to brand advocates.
That pack also tells you who your ghost followers are - those people who have never or rarely interact with your account. Popping over to visit their profile and paying more attention to their personal stuff might spur some activity with you and them in the future. It's great information to know all the way around.
My next choice is the Spreecast app. It's a great online video streaming service that allows you to easily add anyone involved in the chat to the actual video stream, where you can then talk to them. Google Plus Hangouts is obviously a big competitor, but it still has a weird approach with invites, where they don't always go through and it's a bit of a task to invite people to join the video portion. Spreecast makes it extremely easy and for the purposes of this post, their app is absolutely fantastic for being able to tune in anywhere you go.
In addition, it's very easy to see what content of interest is coming up on the schedule. Maybe there's a thought leader you're excited to see host a Spreecast, or maybe you see there's one coming up on a topic that interests you. On the Spreecast app, it's easy to find great content, tune in, and engage the chat. For a brand thinking of having a Spreecast event, the app will help them spread the word even further and more seamlessly.
