1. Red Bull
Energy drink maker Red Bull had to pay out $13 million in 2014 due to misleading claims that its product could improve concentration and reaction speeds.
2. Skechers
Skechers paid a $40 million settlement in 2013 for claiming its Shape-ups line of shoes could help people lose weight just by wearing them.
3. Hyundai And Kia
Hyundai And Kia Motors settled a lawsuit with auto owners over the fact that some 2001 models were advertised as having more engine horsepower than they really had.
4. Kirin Beer
Japanese beer brand Kirin paid out a settlement in 2014 over the "imported" labeling on cans sold in the United States, which misrepresented the fact that it is really brewed in America.
5. Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats
Kellog’s paid out a $4 million settlement in 2013 over misleading claims that the cereal could improve kids’ attentiveness, memory, and other cognitive functions.
6. Taco Bell
Taco Bell faced a lawsuit in 2011 because the "seasoned beef" in its tacos was only seasoned with oat filler, which isn't a seasoning under FDA rules.
7. Airborne
Herbal supplement Airborne paid out $23.3 million in 2008 over misleading claims that it could ward off harmful bacteria and germs and prevent illnesses like colds and the flu.
8. Activia Yogurt
Dannon's Activia Yogurt was the subject of a $45 million settlement in 2010 over false claims that the yogurt it was "scientifically proven" to have more health benefits than regular yogurt.
9. Pennzoil
Pennzoil was ordered to pull ads in 2000 that showed its oil performing better than its competitors, which a federal judge called "false and misleading" and "repugnant."
